Web Submission-Raising the price of electricity by 18 is ridiculous and irresponsible when Emera rated the rates last year. This would increase my most recent bill by $75.22. I remember back 5 years ago I paid less than $75 month, and since then the price has more than doubled. This proposed increase on our electricity is an unreasonable monopoly practice that needs to be stopped immediately Thank you Brian Violette 29 River Road, Caribou 04736

Emera Maine's distribution rates are already prohibitive for residents /seniors of rural Maine. We must look for ways to make adjustments in the cost of doing business, so that electricity is affordable for all. It should not be an exclusive asset. I volunteer at our local community meal weekly, and have had conversations with senior guests who come and stay with us for the three house we are open, in order to get warm. Living in senior residences, where the course of heat is electric, they are forced to make decisions between staying warm or having food or health care. This is unconscionable. Maine needs to attract residents and businesses and retain those who are here, not drive them out with the outrageous costs of electricity.

The Hussey family has requested 3 phase power from Maine Public Service. They hooked up 3 phase with a wild leg and said they were going to get a transformer to make it true 3 phase to run a saw mill we had. That never happened and Emera purchased them and we asked if they would correct the problem. They have not. Last year we purchased Shop and Save 3 phase equipment to cut our meat and are purchasing 3 phase freezer storage. We have wire up the system with a 400 amp service with two 200 amp systems so each can work by there own. The saw mill requires 175 amps and the meat equipment and the freezer would be on the other. If only one freezer unit is operating it requires 60 amps. If we add another unit that would be 120 amps. The system is set up to run through contactors so as to be able to shut down if a phase is lost. We have not been able to get them to resolve this problem, but they have used one leg to operate a meter for our barn. Since we are a high user, we feel that they rate increase for distribution should not go into effect. Their letter to us on March 4, 2019 states " the proposed increase to distribution rates includes investments in system reliability, customer service, and operations." If they can not take care of this simple problem. We feel their increase is not justified. Thank for your time in this problem. Dennis Hussey

Please deny Emera's request for a rate increase. We already endure one of the highest rates in the nation. Plus, as a low/fixed income senior citizen I can barely pay my bill at the current rate.

Docket # 2019-00019 You have to be serious????? 18% increase requested by Emera????? Are you trying to drive us all out of this state??? Florida looks better and better. We are struggling now with electric bills, insanely expensive compared. Maine is regressing now, with the very rich on the coast (who don't claim residency) and the poor, who live in run down houses and trailers. I am a widowed, retired teacher (can't get my social security due to windfall), so the struggle is real, requiring me to work wherever I can (live in rural Maine). Cleaning houses, babysitting, anything to get by. And you will even consider this rate increate??? AMAZING!!!!!!!!"

Many of us will not be able to afford such a staggering increase like this. Please do not allow Emera to bring up the rates 18%. It will destroy some of us

Raising our electricity prices 18% is ridiculous considering prices rose last year. An 18% increase would cost me an extra $75.22 on my most recent bill. Back 5 years ago my whole bill was less than $75, since then my bill has more than doubled. I can't afford the bill I have now. We should be talking about lowing prices, not increasing them. This monopolistic practice must be stopped!
