Versant should not be raising our rates! All I've seen since Bangor hydro was bought is our rates sky rocket and the service decrease insanely. When I get my bill electronically and the day I get it, it's already the due date OR more often than not, I receive the bill but the due date was three days BEFORE I was billed. How can I pay a bill on time if I get it after the due date? They also have ridiculously long outages. Their inability to run their business shouldn't be my financial burden.

I feel your proposed increase is excessive. I like many people in Maine are retired and live on a fixed income. 12% each year for the next two years in comparison to a modest SS increase is just difficult to manage. Please reconsider a more reasonable percentage. Thank you.

I received note of the proposed VERSANT rate increase: over 25% in 2 years. Wow! My wife and I have a small cottage on Swan's Island with low charges for electricity. We can afford this increase. But I have year round friends on the island who will struggle. With Covid, Mainers out of work, businesses hurting, I am amazed that Versant would do this. I hope I am a good friend to my friends in Maine. And I hope Versant can take a slower rate increase over the next few years. Thanks for taking my response.

Complaint: Distribution rate increase should not happen. It will be a hardship for many seniors on fixed incomes and low income people. The cost of all food, and other products have increased. I pay more than $30.00 a month for prescription drugs. I know of people that pay a lot more. Please hear our request and try to understand our needs. We feel like the forgotten people, that no one cares about. Reina Boudreau

Mr. Cote contacted the CASD to voice his concerns regarding Versant's proposed rate increase. He stated that Versant hired Asplundh to do trimming on Rt 11 between Brownville and Millinocket and it took 2 months to trim a 10 mile stretch. He feels the job should have taken a week. He feels if Versant better handled things like this, they wouldn't need a rate increase. *Filed on behalf of Mr. Cote since he does not have means to do so.

As a concerned member of the public I would like to comment against Versant Power's request to increase rates. Versant is complicit in wasteful spending. When Emera Maine became Versant they went on a publicity campaign which included sending probably 100,000 extremely expensive plastic holographic postcards to customers. I am estimating 100,000 because statistics state that they serve 160,000 homes. These postcards are NOT recyclable (I checked) and must have been extremely expensive to produce. So, other than helping the post office and increasing the profits of one local Maine company that created them - this was incredibly fiscally wasteful and horrible for the environment. My husband is a 73 year old disabled veteran and I am a 65 year old stay at home caretaker. We are on a fixed income now. I resent having my rates increased while this company is wasting money. Thank you for listening, Nancy Nicholson Bangor Maine

I would like to see a histogram showing Maine's residential customer monthly electrical usage on the "X" axis, in 100KW increments, and frequency of occurrence on the "Y" axis for the period between June and September 2020. Maine has a large number of seasonal residential customers that may bias the average typical residential customer's usage. Assuming 159,000 customer accounts and a $21.6 million revenue increase the average monthly residential / business increase is $11.32.
