The electric rates are way out of control; we turn off anything not being used - chargers, microwave, lights, etc. We have minimum electricity in our house as it is and we still have a huge bill every month that is pretty much impossible to keep up with paying.

I am opposed to any further rate increases that are proposed by the Central Maine Power Company. My CMP bills have increased as follows: February 2022 to February 2023 increase of 111.41% March 2022 to March 2023 increase of 125.87% This is a far cry from alleged CMP's estimates for "average household" projected increases. Therefore, I cannot support, or actually live with, their continuing proposed cost increases. Enough is enough!

CMP Price Increase=Scarborough Clients do not support-Always outages in Pine Point To whom it may concern, This message is to notify you that we do not support the CMP price hikes nor do we support CMP cutting down the North Woods. As residents of Scarborough, CMP is constantly having power outages due to many reasons. Yet, the CMP price hikes continue to increase. This is not fair to residents who endure power outages for no apparent reason. For example, if a snow plow bumps into a telephone pole, there is an outage. If there is an accident, there is an outage. If the wind blows too strong, there is an outage. When you call to report the outage, (even in the summer), there is nothing to be done about it. Most devices rely on electricity, but if there is no electricity and you do not have a generator what is the good in having a power outage alert on your device. You need to provide better service. My property was vacant for several weeks and no one was at the property, yet there was usage. Why? Due to price hikes that make no sense. Where are the profits going? The CEO? This is not fair to working families. Reduce the electricity costs. R.Wells & C.Gross

Stop raising the rates of a public utility - the price gouging and corporate greed are hurting Mainers across the board. In fact, I think a substantial decrease in both supply and delivery rates is in order, as well as an external audit into CMP's data management and accounting practices. Here's why: In May I spent almost $35,000 installing solar panels to self-generate the majority of our power. As of November, CMP reported that I had used up all of my banked, self-generated power; however, I produced an additional, uncredited 1.195 MWh during the year, which was sent back into their grid and possibly sold by CMP to another customer. The net usage I've been charged is higher on my invoices than in CMP's own data, pulled by me from their website, and substantially higher than the CMP supply measured by my own inverter. In total, it appears that I've been overbilled for 1.437 MWh. But it's hard to know for sure since CMP and the MPUC have stonewalled me and tried to silence me on several occasions. And that brings me to the rate hikes. Because of the new rates, I currently have a balance of ~$700. I've been paying $100+/month since January, but they keep adding hundreds to my balance each month. My January bill (historically, the highest usage cycle for my family) went from $194.42 in 2021 to $391.52 in 2022 to $446.14 in 2023. And the last reason CMP and the MPUC need to be externally audited is because when I tried to work with CMP to resolve what I was seeing, I was ignored. They refused to send me my own data and a statements of my account. I had to leverage my legislative rep to get the MPUC to talk to me. Scott Ward at MPUC did not do a single thing for me that he agreed to do and then sent me a "Decision Letter" (obviously not in my favor) to close my "investigation" (that I didn't know was happening) when I stood my ground. If they didn't have something to hide, they wouldn't be trying to silence me.

While I understand the hardships of many individuals in our current climate of rising prices, I also understand the hardships of companies who are trying to provide services while also experiencing higher costs to do so. I believe that CMP does an outstanding job of keeping our electricity flowing and in order to continue that, they also need to be able to continue their line improvement projects. And with the effects of climate change and the new intensity of storms that we experience, I think these improvement projects are more important that ever. I support a rate increase for CMP that will allow them to continue their improvement work. I believe the increase should be validated against the costs of the improvement projects and then be appropriately distributed between CMP's parent company, CMP itself, and the customers. Defining that appropriate distribution is the job of the MPUC and I trust that you will evaluate and arrive at an equitable plan.

I am writing to you today to urge you to not grant CMP a requested price increase. The company's prices have risen dramatically over the past few years, especially this last one.

Please consider us the customer's. We cannot afford another rate hike. As it is CMP hasn't answered for the faulty billing issues in 2018 and estimate billing at last year's usage vs. The previous month. They are spending an insane amount of money on advertising and have had record profits. Our electric bills should not be the same as the cost of a mortgage and many are already struggling with the increased cost of food. We don't need electric charging stations, which was part of thier reason for the increase..we can't afford the electric cars anyway with the inflation. Please help us by denying the rate hikes.

I STRONGLY resent another rate increase. I, personally am semi-retired and living on Social Security and with the last rate increase and yet another one on the horizon, OH MY... no wonder there are so many homeless people living outside. Rent increases, yet I feel that mortgages that have been in progress for many, many years, the rate for that doesn't increase. I know personally from working in property management for 24+ years...... it's impossible to get subsidy and assistance.
