Electricity rates have gone through the roof in the past six months. My usage is showing that it has doubled since the ice storm in Dec. 2023 and we are not doing anything different. Before you grant CMP a rate change, do a thorough analysis to confirm that all of the previous rate changes have resulted in the changes that CMP has been assuring everyone that they have made, such as monitoring of smart meters to confirm that they are not causing electricity usage spikes. Require CMP to provide customer kwh usage data for the past year on ALL their customers. This can be done and still keep the customer's personal information confidential. Use this data to analyze spikes, valleys and other anomalies that CMP is saying is not happening. At the same time ask customers to send their usage data to you for the same time period (it is very easy to download from their website) and see if that data also matches what CMP is giving you. It would not surprise me if it does not. Then make the decision if they deserve the rate change based on that performance. Don't automatically grant it.

How can a Utility company file a rate Increase on top of a rate increase. We just got a 49% increase and you are approving another increase. CMP has the poorest rank company in the nation. They can't continue charging until they us for there failures. I still here about people who in the winter shut off power and getting outrageous charges and all the say is we will look into it. Unbelievable.
