So, now we know the "PLAN" as it continues to chug along, boosted by actions of the Public Advocate, The PUC Commissioners, The Governor, the Governors Energy Office, the Natural Resources Council of Maine, Acadia Center, Conservative Law Foundation, the Democrats and Our Power( a collective run by Seth Berry). The "PLAN" is the complete takeover of Central Maine Power and all their assets by forcing CMP and Versant to incorporate(DER) Distributed Energy Resources into the distribution system with a flood of solar, wind and battery storage and Hydrogen??? and the removal of Canadian Hydro, Natural Gas and Nuclear from entering CMPs and Versant's transmission and distribution system. This has always been the wish of all the above "PLANMAKERS", especially Seth Berry. And with the successful rejection of CMP's 5 year plan to strengthen the grid, the "PLANMAKERS" have no immediate hurdle to stop them from advancing the destruction of CMP and Versant through a thousand cuts, or more appropriate, a thousand rate increases. Maine has never seen a more overwhelming propaganda program that hides their efforts so efficiently. Most people will come to say "I never saw it coming" but it is coming and the only way to stop it is TO STOP IT! If these climate alarmists believe their PLANS will remedy the existential threat to man, they should propose a plan to add a brand new transmission and distribution system, side by side with CMP and Versant to be fed by DER resources only and, we, the ratepayers will have a choice of which T&D system we will buy power from. Right now, we are paying for the replacement of a T&D system with another T&D system at extraordinary costs. It simply means the total destruction of future Maine.

Versant/CMP had plenty of money to pour into stopping the Pine Tree Power initiative. We have no choice but to use CMP. It's a utility and should be regulated as such. It's pure corruption to continue to allow CMP to operate in this manner.

This rate hike comes at the worst possible time. People are struggling to afford food, gas, housing. CMP needs to stop burdening the people of Maine with high energy prices. Any "improvements" that CMP feels they need to make to their infrastructure should be made at the expense of their CEOs salary - not the average Mainer.

I am sure Central Maine Power would love to offer a decrease in rates and probably could if they did not have to be a collection agency for solar developers receiving hundreds of million dollars through net energy billing and tariff rate billing. For those who have been paying attention to their electricity costs attributable to heat pumps, it is worth noting that ratepayers provide the monies for rebates that Efficiency Maine Trust offers for these heat pumps: part of everyone's bill. Until the Government of Maine repeals Net Energy Billing or initiates buyouts of all the solar projects, rates will keep rising as the collection of funds from ratepayers increases with each additional project. It is a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. As for Efficiency Maine Trust, their new mission is being called "Beneficial Electrification" What is beneficial about raising electricity costs? Efficiency Maine Trust needs to be terminated. It is for the higher income citizens of Maine. Anyone in the market for an EV? EMT has EV rebate money thanks to ratepayers. It will be interesting if the PUC is able or willing to find out how much of the latest CMP proposed rate increase is driven by Green Energy requirements enacted by Maine Government. One thing is for sure, the quest for green energy will deliver energy bankruptcy to Maine people., as the cost of electricity drives up the cost for everything. The PUC must stop using CMP and Versant as collection agencies for the benefit of unneeded and unreliable solar and wind projects.

One of the units I own has electric heat. Last year that heat cost over $700 a month, and it's only 900 square feet! Just six years ago, it was under $400. These increases are ridiculous. People who heat with electricity are already paying far too much, and so many people have switched from oil to heat pumps that CMP stands to make an even bigger fortune if there are further rate hikes. The company is extremely greedy. Rates need to go DOWN, not up.

I am writing as a resident of Maine who opposes CMP's proposed rate hikes. Maine is becoming increasingly unaffordable for working and middle class families and an unnecessary increase in rate hikes would add even more cost burden on these households. I didn't ask to live in a state where a for-profit company owns a public utility and I think it is obscene that they are continuing to extract profits from Mainers while so many struggle to keep the lights on or to heat their homes. I use heat pumps as my main source of heat in the winter; I installed them because I care about the environment and want to contribute to the state's goal of reducing carbon emissions. And yet, with CMP rate hikes, my heating costs are increasing every winter, penalizing me for taking this climate-conscious action. CMP does not need more profits, and Mainers do not need more costs for basic services.

When the "delivery" cost is more than twice the cost of the actual power being used, I don't believe for a second that this rate hike is necessary in any way - other than to pad the HUGE bonuses of the foreign companies that own CMP, and their billionaire shareholders. PLEASE do NOT allow this rate hike! Average Maine residents are already going cold and hungry!

Good Friends of the PUC - Please mandate a reduction in the guaranteed profit for CMP. In the ten years since my family installed rooftop solar for environmental and economic reasons, our monthly T &D fee has zoomed from $12.88 to $29.40!!! While CMP has enjoyed increasingly high profits, I've been made to pay increasingly high fees to give electricity power to them for free (unused credits expire each year) and to tap power the month(s) our generation does not meet demand! We really need a PUBLIC Power Co., to invest profit back into the infrastructure, not an investor-owned entity that refuses to reduce profits by investing in infrastructure and that regularly requests even HIGHER profits. .

Enough of hardworking Mainers enriching wealthy executives and stockholders, foreign and domestic! Enough! People are losing their homes so rich people can get richer! Enough! I urge to limit CMP's rate increase to six percent.
