I urge the Commissioners to look closely at CMP's request and keep affordability for Maine people front and center. I have observed CMP engaging in many infrastructure investments that appear to me to be unnecessary or far more extensive than necessary, while routine maintenance is ignored.

It is unconscionable that CMP is asking for yet another rate hike in Maine when their profit margin is so high and we already face staggering electric bills. CMP should be held accountable for their "projects" by using more of their already substantial profits and by proving that every dollar charged to ratepayers is tied to real public benefit, not just their bottom line. Thank you for the work you did holding CMP in check last year. Please do so again.

To Whom It May Concern: People are already experiencing increased costs for basic needs, including lodging, food, and more. Maine families and businesses are already struggling with high and rising electric bills. Every additional increase makes it harder for Mainers to afford the basic service they need to live safely in their homes, and/or run their businesses. It is the mission of the Maine Public Utilities Commission to ensure safe and reliable utility service at rates that are just and reasonable, while minimizing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Please reject CMP's proposal as filed, deny its proposed treatment of storm costs, closely scrutinize CMP's requested return on equity, and approve only those costs that are truly necessary to provide safe, reliable, affordable service and support Maine's clean energy future. Thank you.

I just want to see the PUC obtain adequate information to determine if the proposed capital expenses will in fact make the system more reliable, or just update systems that do not need the improvements. I trust that a good decision will then be made. Thank you.

Dear Commissioners. My name is Colin Vettier, I live in Portland Maine, and my testimony is in opposition to Central Maine Power's proposed rate increase in Docket No. 2026-00043. I am a CMP customer, and have seen with dismay the rate go up and up, while their service continue to be abysmal (regular power cuts, lack of transparency). But what worries me the most is the amount of money they (a foreign company) is allowed to spend in influencing our elections to make sure their business is not socialized or turned into a customer owned utility. Using rate payers money to spread disinformation is a huge problem. On top of this, Maine families and businesses are already struggling with high and rising electric bills. Every additional increase makes it harder for Mainers to afford the basic service they need to live safely in their homes, run their businesses, and participate in the clean energy future our state is working to build. CMP is asking to collect $189 million more in distribution rates. According to Maine's Office of the Public Advocate, this proposal would increase monthly electric bills by about $18 and includes a request for about $7 per month in temporary rates starting this July. Without that temporary rate request, customers would otherwise see their bills go down by about $11 per month as prior storm-related costs roll off. That is important context. CMP may frame this proposal as a decrease, but for many Maine customers, it would erase relief they were otherwise due and lock in higher costs going forward. Affordability is not separate from Maine's climate goals. It is central to them. If electricity becomes less affordable, Maine people will delay or forgo heat pumps, weatherization, electric vehicles, and other upgrades that reduce pollution and save money over time. That burden falls hardest on older Mainers, rural households, renters, low-income families, and people already making hard choices every month.

Please look closely at CMP's rate increase request and prioritize affordability for Maine people as highly as reliability. In these times of high inflation, every increase in necessities, like CMP bills, brings more hardship on those of us on fixed incomes. Thank you for looking out for Maine rate payers! Ron Dahlin

We can't afford to keep absorbing rate hikes from CMP. They can use their own profits for infrastructure improvement and expansion. Thank you

Statement in Opposition to Central Maine Power's Proposed Rate Increase Docket 2026-00043 Maine Public Utilities Commission - June 9, 2026 Good evening, Commissioners. My name is Meredith Bruskin, from Swanville Maine. I am a senior trying to live on social security--another rate hike to profit a Spanish for profit corporation would be devastating to me and so many like me. Maine families and businesses are already struggling with high and rising electric bills. CMP may frame this proposal as a decrease, but for many Maine customers, it would erase relief they were otherwise due and lock in higher costs going forward. Please, stop this rate hike! Protect Mainers. Iberdola needs to use their own profits to up grade our grid. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, Meredith Bruskin, Swanville, Me.

I think that this request for increased costs being passed along to CMP customers in Maine is more financial burden than the majority of Mayer can afford. Infrastructure improvement is important, but should not benefit CMP stakeholders in a way that penalizes customers. We need to improve our infrastructure and the grid to accommodate more renewable resources. Please take a very close look at the suggested improvements and advocate for those improvements that are most important and cost-effective for every manor. You are the advocates for Maine citizens. Please stand up for them.
